Aisle of the Damned: 08-24-18- Michael Caine’s Newest Vacation Home

Cue the Williams' Score

Da-dun. Da-dun. Da-dun-da-dun-da-dun-da-dun… de de WAAAAAAAA!
Wait, this isn’t a Jaws film! It’s not even made for the SyFy Channel! It’s The Meg, which is like Jaws, but, you know, bigger and way more digital. How will Jason Statham find a way to punch this fearsome monster from the deep? Meanwhile, Kent has his own problem when he faces down Disney’s Christopher Robin, which brings Ewan McGregor face to face with that silly old bear, Winnie the Pooh, in order to keep making live-action films out of each of their animated classics.

We also talk James Bond and franchise fatigue, plus we take a look at not one, but two trailers about places atop gateways to Hell. (Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be very busy.)

Aisle of the Damned: 08/10/18- This is the Darkest Timeline

Tom Cruise is getting old, but he’s still running and running and running in Mission: Impossible- Fallout, one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer and the biggest box office of the franchise. Does he run out of steam, or will the train keep-a-rollin’?

We also talk about some upcoming films and Kent loses his mind over an awful trailer for what looks like a new low for movie spoofs. Plus, lots of news from across the movie spectrum. Enjoy, won’t you?

Aisle of the Damned: 01/19/17- The Perfunctory 2017 Wrap-Up

Hello, fellow movie geeks! Bryan and Kent are up to their old tricks again with their mandatory look at the year that was! Yes, there’s a look a the best, the worst, and the most disappointing releases of the year. Which movies will top their lists? Will Bryan have room for anything besides the plethora of grand superhero films this year? Find out!

Who's the monster?

We’re back for more punishment from Tom Cruise’s to-do list. Actually, we talk 2017’s new version of The Mummy after a discussion of the Aubrey Plaza vehicle The To Do List sparks a little conversation over 90’s nostalgia.

Before we talk about the Dark Universe though, we talk about the legacy of the great Adam West of Batman: The Movie and so much more.

Are you Gal Gadot, or Gal Gadon't?

Kent and Bryan can’t wait to discuss the newest D.C. Comics adaptation, Wonder Woman, the first of the current series to be released in color. Does it break the chain of disappointing attempts to chase Marvel? (Spoiler alert: YES.) Then they decide to see just how Depp the rabbit hole goes in the fifth film based on a silly walk and some gold teeth: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

There’s also discussion about a few new trailers for films and some news regarding Terry Gilliam, the Weinsteins and the sad loss of everyone’s favorite cheese loving inventor. All this and less on Aisle of the Damned!

What about Ranger Smith?

It’s a passionate discussion this episode as we tackle some news dripping with Sony’s flop sweat. They’re working on a stand-alone, R-rated Venom movie. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. has been talking to Joss Whedon about making a full-blown Batgirl film.

More importantly, we discuss the American remake of Ghost in the Shell and the big-screen adaptation of the ’90s kiddie kaiju show, Power Rangers. (Or is that Saban’s Power Rangers? Might depend on how you feel about adding “John Carpenter’s” to the title of films.)

We also discuss a slew of summer and fall trailers that have come out since the last episode. How are the studio marketing teams trying to sell us the biggest and smallest films of the season? Don’t forget our regular recommendations. All this and less on Aisle of the Damned!
