Aisle of the Damned: On Vacation

Oh, hello.

We didn’t see you standin’ there.

Well, the Damned boys are currently getting some much needed rest and relaxation following the busy Labor Day holiday so they can continue to bring you the best in movie news and commentary. Big changes are a-comin’ soon, so watch for next week’s episode!

MUSIC:
One Eighty (aka Flight 180): Vacation

Aisle of the Damned: 08-24-18- Michael Caine’s Newest Vacation Home

Cue the Williams' Score

Da-dun. Da-dun. Da-dun-da-dun-da-dun-da-dun… de de WAAAAAAAA!
Wait, this isn’t a Jaws film! It’s not even made for the SyFy Channel! It’s The Meg, which is like Jaws, but, you know, bigger and way more digital. How will Jason Statham find a way to punch this fearsome monster from the deep? Meanwhile, Kent has his own problem when he faces down Disney’s Christopher Robin, which brings Ewan McGregor face to face with that silly old bear, Winnie the Pooh, in order to keep making live-action films out of each of their animated classics.

We also talk James Bond and franchise fatigue, plus we take a look at not one, but two trailers about places atop gateways to Hell. (Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be very busy.)

Pain- Jabberjaw Running Underwater

Aisle of the Damned: 08/10/18- This is the Darkest Timeline

Tom Cruise is getting old, but he’s still running and running and running in Mission: Impossible- Fallout, one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer and the biggest box office of the franchise. Does he run out of steam, or will the train keep-a-rollin’?

We also talk about some upcoming films and Kent loses his mind over an awful trailer for what looks like a new low for movie spoofs. Plus, lots of news from across the movie spectrum. Enjoy, won’t you?

The Sounds- Song with a Mission

Aisle of the Damned: 07/27/18- Can You Smell the Rock Cooking?

The Damned Boys head out into the wilderness to check out the new Netflix original film The Legacy of a Whitetailed Deer Hunter, but will they be bringing anything back? Before that, though, Kent checks out Dwayne Johnson’s star vehicle Skyscraper and Bryan has stepped into the path of The Equalizer 2.

They also have several things to say about San Diego ComicCon and the unceremonious firing of James Gunn. (Spoiler: they ain’t happy.) All this and less on Aisle of the Damned! (Sorry about talking over each other so much in this one. We had a Skype issue.)

Eddie Cochran— Twenty Flight Rock

Aisle of the Damned: 07/13/18- What’s That in Rudd Years?

Bryan and Kent are taking in the THIRD and final Marvel film of 2018 with Ant-Man and the Wasp. Only three months after the shattering events of Infinity War, are the Damned boys ready to get small? Kent also takes in a documentary about the beloved Mr. Rogers, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

Bryan also takes a look at his ten most anticipated blu ray releases announced over the last couple of weeks. An embarrassment of riches awaits on Aisle of the Damned!

Colleen Green— I Want to Grow Up

Aisle of the Damned: 06/29/18- Flying Toasters

It’s a big slam-bang two-fer as Kent and Bryan tackle Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. How do they stack up? I guess you’ll just have to listen! Kent also takes a look at Hearts Beat Loud with Nick Offerman, and it has all the makings of an indie delight.

While they’re at it, they discuss the Star Wars implosion and the emergence of MoviePass competitors. Plus, they both do bad Sylvester Stallone impressions.

Sillhouettes are Hip

This episode, we make our sad goodbyes to an iconic screen legend. We also look at Johnny Knoxville in Action Point, a bevy of actresses in Ocean’s Eight, and a guy who looks like Tom Hardy in Upgrade (which may be one of the summer’s biggest surprises.)

We also have a lot of trailers to discuss and some casting and production news, at least one piece of which makes us very unhappy Damned boys. All this and less on Aisle of the Damned!

ET Phone Home

Tag Team, back again! This episode, the Damned crew looks at not one, but two blockbuster franchise entries with the X-Men series’ bad boy in Deadpool 2, and another kinda anti-hero getting the kid gloves treatment in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Surprise! Kent and Bryan actually disagree on these; a lot in some cases.

Meanwhile, we also take a look at yet more Star Wars news and lots of assorted odds and ends. For those interested:

Solo review at 1:13:19

Skating Polly featuring Louise Post and Nina Gordon- Louder in Outer Space

Aisle of the Damned: 05/18/18- Adequacy is Its Own Brand of Disappointment

The Damned Boys have had a busy couple of weeks and they’ve got a couple of theatrical reviews and a couple reviews of direct-to-video flicks: the crowd-funded cult comedy sequel Super Troopers 2, David Tennant going full ham as a serial killer in Bad Samaritan, Japan getting hold of Batman for the completely bizarre Batman: Ninja and Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell making it an even half-dozen for the franchise. Are any of them worth your time?

We also have some bones to pick with Best Buy and Amazon screwing up our orders for blu rays. Are they purposely trying to hasten the death knell of physical media?

All this, plus news and comment on Aisle of the Damned!

Aisle of the Damned: 05/04/18- Baby Geniuses 3: Infant War

Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

Bryan and Kent, like most people, apparently,  have just borne witness to the glory of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, the culmination (for now) of Marvel’s long game that started with Iron Man and has continued for 18 movies. And that’s about it. Really, it’s just a long, long discussion of the movie because there’s a lot to unpack here for a couple of movie-lovin’ nerds who’ve read their share of funny books.
