AotD presents Blockbasterds: 06/24/19

If you haven’t seen the announcement, Bryan has decided not to be a regular part of the podcast anymore, but before that, we got a couple episodes in the can which have been desperately begging to be edited. Here’s the first, with the guys talking lots of movie news that is now undoubtedly outdated, but how can we not post it when we talk about such scintillating subjects as Glenn Danzig’s horror film Verotika, which is already being called one of the worst horror anthologies ever made in a genre that is renowned for a low bar? Plus, there’s trailer talk and more!

Aisle of the Damned: 06/07/19- Omnispecies Cockfighting

It’s the OFFICIAL summer movie season now and we’ve got one of our first big special effects flicks without a Marvel logo attached. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is here to continue Warner Bros’ attempt to capture the Toho magic using the latest in modern CGI effects. Will it make you believe a giant lizard can fight? We also have another third film in a series with John Wick: Chapter 3- Parabellum and Keanu Reeves is still popping headshots as the titular hitman. Does it live up to the exacting standards of the first two? Meanwhile, James Gunn and his family are inverting the Superman mythos with Brightburn, a kind of superhero horror film that posits an evil boy of steel. Finally, Nintendo wants you to go hunt for clues with Pokemon Detective Pikachu, and thinks Ryan Reynolds will help get you to step up.

We’re back! (Just like the tagline of Ghostbusters 2!) In this new episode we discuss the giant dumpster fire that is the Sonic trailer, talk about the newest actors who may play the Dark Knight, pay tribute to Peter Mayhew, and discuss news, run down the new releases for June and so much more! Join us or listen to us wont you?

Aisle of the Damned: 05/10/19- Some Assemblage Required

As if there could be any other movie we’re talking about this episode; Avengers: Endgame has finally landed after 10 years, and we’re going to dissect the crap out of it. But wait, they’re not the only superteam we’re taking a look at this week. The DCAU is (sort of) back with Justice League vs the Fatal Five, as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and more of DC’s top brass face baddies from the future. But wait again, we also have the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense in Hellboy, a new take on the character previously tackled by Guillermo del Toro. Lest we forget and not tell you to wait one more time, there’s even the new feature Missing Link from the cult animation studio Laika to discuss, with some wacky Bigfoot-related hi-jinx!

It’s that time again: we’re here to talk the news and trailers you need, plus a lot more. This go round, we discuss Zack Snyder’s proclamation that his cut of Justice League DOES exist. Then there’s the revelation of the name of the next Star Wars film. In the mood for Dave Bautista doing a family comedy, or an indie mainstay giving his take on a zombie film, or a teenage Dora the Explorer? Well, you’re surprisingly in luck. Join us for this episode of Blockbasterds!

Aisle of the Damned: 04/12/19- Clowns Doing Yoga

Holy crow! It’s time for Kent to review Disney’s new Dumbo, then the boys talk about their least favorite Disney films and the glut of remakes that the Mouse House has in the pipeline. Then they turn their attention to Jordan Peele’s sophomore film, Us. How will it fare in the inevitable comparisons to Get Out? Then, they say the magic word: Bazinga! Wait… that turns you into an annoying sitcom character. No, they’re discussing Shazam! (aka the original Captain Marvel.) Will this departure from the DCU norm get the traction it needs to transform Warner Bros.’ superhero division?

Aisle of the Damned: 03/15/19- Because It’s the 90s!

In the words of the great Emperor Kuzco, “BOOM, BABY!” We’re bringing the heat this episode as we take a look at some of the biggest titles out now. There’s the animated trilogy topper How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. There’s the movie that James Cameron wanted to make for 20 years while succumbing to his obsession with blue cat people, Alita: Battle Angel. There’s the Rocky of Wrestling, Fighting with My Family. And then there’s a little film called Captain Marvel that will make sure you are aware that the 90s existed, and we are required by an act of Congress to discuss it. Can you handle it?

Yeah… yeah, you probably can.

Aisle of the Damned: Announcement

Hey folks. Due to circumstances both within and outside of our control, we have to cut down on Aisle of the Damned’s schedule from weekly to biweekly. We’re disappointed too (and we hope to go back to our old schedule at some point in the future) but for now demands on our time have just been too much for us to keep up on, which is why recent episodes have been coming out just a smidgeon late in some cases. We hope you understand, and please let us know if you have any comments or concerns.
